About me

T he world of horror has always fascinated me. What makes horror such an interesting genre, is that it lets you play with ideas, and the ‘What Ifs’ in life. The type of thoughts that plague everyone in some way and finds its way into our nightmares that, at times, bleed into our waking life; turning the dark into this obscure unknown that can hold the deepest depths of the imagination. I’ve always loved watching films surrounded in the world of horror and books even more because the words formed whatever it could come up with in your mind . . . . That’s what woke up the writer in me that was already there.

About me (continued)

A s I got older, that fascination only deepened. I began to see horror not just as a source of fear, but as a mirror—it reflects the parts of ourselves we often try to hide. There’s a strange comfort in confronting those fears through fiction, like peering into the abyss and realizing it has your face. Writing became the way I explored that space, threading real emotions through imagined terrors. I found myself drawn to the quiet dread, the kind that lingers in silence or hides behind a smile. It wasn’t about gore or shock—it was about truth wrapped in shadows, and the thrill of turning those shadows into stories that linger long after the last page is turned.

What People Are Saying

“An intense, fever dream of a book with its own personality - you might think it is an homage to Wes Craven but Mr. Brownlee finds his own footing. Great, well-developed characters especially of the young teens, Milo and Vanessa - they slowly fall in love and have a shared familial history that is troubling when it comes the book's supernatural force of evil, Angalee. Memorable villain who spouts words that sting and poison. Atmospheric, thrilling, surprising with a huge body count that befits Angalee's motives. Well worth checking out if you like supernatural horror.”

What People Are Saying 2

“If you love horror, especially Wes Craven-like horror, then you will LOVE Bloodshed! As an avid horror fan, I'm always looking for something beyond the screen, and Bloodshed was exactly what I wanted. The novel is a rollercoaster of terror, suspense, sadness, humanity, and thrills, all executed in a way that is very real and extremely enjoyable. The characters are relatable and well-developed. Brownlee has a magnificent gift for making us not only care about the characters, but also care about their relationships with one another. As certain characters faced their death, I had to take a few moments to mourn their loss. Audrey is an outstanding heroine with brains, heart, and grace; the classic final girls would be proud! The antagonist is mysterious, brutal, and creepy, especially towards the end. I felt so engrossed when reading that it took me only a few hours before I finished. Furthermore, Brownlee's descriptive writing helped me to picture each scene in my head perfectly. It's not hard to imagine this as a film, and a darn good one at that! My favorite types of horror pieces are those that can scare me deeply without an overabundance of violence, are character-driven, have an intriguing plot, a fantastic heroine, and captivate my imagination; Bloodshed was all! I laughed, I literally sat on the edge of my seat, I cried, and my heart raced. I highly recommend Bloodshed for both horror fans and non-horror fans alike. Storytelling at its finest.”
